Three Ways to Improve Your Subtle Energy
Energy is everywhere, including in and around our bodies. Sometimes we can see energy (like sunshine or fire) but often we can’t. So, what exactly is your body’s “subtle energy,” and why should you care to improve it?
Your body’s subtle energy isn’t visible but can acutely affect how you feel. It’s the energy of your life force, or prana.
According to ancient Eastern wisdom, the subtle body has energy centers and a distinct flow. Somewhat like the plumbing under your kitchen sink, it can get clogged or blocked and require clearing.
Subtle body and energy clearing are not new concepts. People have been studying them for thousands of years. Many forms of ancient healing arts, such as acupuncture, massage, reiki, and yoga are based on the subtle body and energy centers and energy surrounding the physical body.
Improving our subtle energy is a simple way to dramatically enhance how we feel. Here are three ways to get started:
1. Check in with yourself.
It’s hard to improve your energy if you aren’t aware of it. Tapping into your subtle energy field should be an important part of your routine. Just as you brush your teeth or take your vitamins daily, an energy self-check can be a quick way to assess and realign your well-being.
To check in, sit down, get comfy, and close your eyes. Take a few slow, deep breaths. With your mind’s eye, scan over your body from head to toes. Note how you are feeling: Light, clear, calm?
Or maybe anxious, dense, and weighed down?
Are there any parts of your body that hurt or are otherwise calling your attention? If so, ask yourself what you can do to readjust, align, heal, or send love to that part of your body. I admit it seems a bit hokey, but I assure you it works! This kind of self-scan, used regularly, can completely change your energy and how you feel.
2. Try self-clearing.
You can clear energy blocks through practiced intention. When you recognize you’re stuck in negative emotions, you can use a variety of methods to help clear those energy blocks.
For example, try lighting a candle and saying a prayer to help clear the emotion. Or journal in a notebook to release the emotion into words on paper. Rub essential oils on your wrists and visualize the negative energy leaving your subtle body. Listen to an energy-clearing guided meditation.
3. Get a helping hand.
Returning to the clogged pipes analogy, sometimes the job is complicated and improving the situation goes a lot faster if you call in a plumber.
When you’re feeling overwhelmed with negative energy and can’t seem to clear it on your own, reach out for a helping hand. There are many accessible ways to invite deeper energy clearing, like scheduling a massage, trying an online yoga class, qigong, or tai chi class. Book a distance session with a reiki practitioner.
Listen to your intuition and do what you feel called to do. Taking steps to care for your subtle energy can be simple and have a profound impact on how you feel.
