Taking Time to Enjoy the Wildflowers

Thank you, Former First Lady, Lady Bird Johnson

Photos by Sharon Kurtz ~

Almost every person, from childhood, has been touched by the untamed beauty of wildflowers.

Today, many people think of Lady Bird Johnson as the reason why we see wildflowers blooming along the nation’s highways and fewer junkyards and billboards.

The Beautification Act of 1965 was one tangible result of Mrs. Johnson’s campaign for national beautification.

Maybe because of her passion for wildflowers, I am enjoying them as I ride my bike on the Northaven Trail behind my house.
