Visit Eisenhower’s Birthplace State Historic Site in the heart of Denison. Here, you’ll see the home where “Ike” Eisenhower, the 34th U.S. President, was born in 1890. See the antique furnishings in the little white house, explore the visitor’s center, and view exhibits of his presidential and war hero life.
Delve into the region’s railroad history at The Red River Railroad Museum on Main Street. Learn about the Missouri, Kansas, Texas (Katy) Railroad’s role in Denison’s growth. See the vast collections of photographs, documents, memorabilia, uniforms, steam and diesel engines, and the historic age of passenger trains.
Discover Hidden Hanger Vineyard & Winery. This tranquil estate vineyard on 50 acres was the original airport and home to the Barnstormers from the 1920s through the 1950s. The Control Tower is a state-of-the-art wine production facility next to the terminal/concourse that houses the Pilot’s Lounge, barrel room, wine cellar, and tasting room. Enjoy a Fly-By tasting on Saturdays, while Sundays through Fridays are reservations only.
The award-winning Ironroot Republic Distillery honors local viticulturist T.V. Munson, who helped save the French wine industry from destruction using his Texas “iron” grape roots. Inspired by his connection to Cognac, France, the family learned brandy distilling techniques, applying the French traditions to heirloom Texas corn and making some exceptional whiskey.
Historical Braun Manor is a 7,000-square-foot mansion crafted in 1882 by George Braun, tied to Anheuser-Busch.
