Leslie Farin
Leslie is an experienced communications and marketing professional with a passion for working with the 50+ generation. Her history is varied with a first career in the healthcare arena before moving into communications. Leslie received a B.S. in Nutrition and Dietetics from University of Rhode Island, and an Master of Public Health from the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School (Rutgers) in New Jersey. After graduating with her masters degree, Leslie founded a wellness consulting business where she coordinated employee health and wellness programs for firms throughout NJ, such as AT&T and PSE&G. She enjoyed working in the health field, but found creating and promoting her programs more challenging, interesting and rewarding than working directly with patients. Upon moving to Texas, Leslie obtained a webmaster certification from Collin College and began working as a marketing consultant for a wide variety of companies in the DFW area.

Leslie is a professional ceramic artist, a fierce advocate for individuals with disabilities, a facilitator for the ADL “No Place for Hate” program and an avid cyclist. She resides in Plano, Tx with her husband, and has two grown sons, one living in New York and the other in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Heidi Frankel

Heidi Frankel has extensive media experience.  She began her career in sales and marketing at a boutique publisher in Los Angeles working with authors and developing special events.  After moving to Dallas, she created, produced and was the reporter for her original segment on KDFW TV Fox 4 news, where she interviewed Troy Aikman and other local celebrities. Heidi also created, wrote, produced and co-hosted a parenting show on CBS Radio where she interviewed then-Governor George W. Bush, Iris Krasnow, and Gayle King. Most recently she worked as the associate publisher and managing editor, contributing writer, business development, and sales during her tenure at The Senior Voice Newspaper.

Heidi is a passionate advocate for the 50+ community. She enjoys reading, discussing films, writing, getting her hands dirty in the garden and exercising. Heidi lives with her husband, Mick, in Dallas, Texas, and has one adult son who resides in New York.

Leah Dobkin is a versatile and creative writer, covering environmental, housing, social, consumer and business issues. She skillfully weaves compelling human-interest stories for print and online articles. She has written extensively about creative solutions and opportunities in an aging society. Prior to freelance writing, Ms. Dobkin was in the aging and nonprofit field for more than 35 years, with a strong focus on intergenerational programming.

David Freitag, an industry veteran in financial services and wealth management, brings a deep passion and unparalleled expertise in Social Security filing strategies and retirement income planning to his current role as a financial planning consultant. David is a frequent speaker, presenter, guest lecturer and published author on such topics as retirement income distribution planning, Social Security, tax planning in retirement, and Roth conversions, amongst others. He has been featured in Market Watch, CNBC, USA Today Money, and The Street.Com.

David is a Chartered Life Underwriter, Chartered Financial Consultant, Chartered Retirement Planning Consultant, and holds his Series 7 and 24 securities licenses.  He also holds a Master of Education and Bachelor of Science degrees from the University of Maryland.

Fayne Frey, M.D., is a board-certified clinical and surgical dermatologist practicing in West Nyack, New York, where she specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of skin cancer. She is a nationally recognized expert in the effectiveness and formulation of over-the-counter skincare products, and, as a speaker, has captivated audiences with her wry observations regarding the skincare industry. She has consulted for numerous media outlets, including NBC, USA Today, and, the Huffington Post, and has shared her expertise on both cable and major TV outlets. Dr. Frey is the Founder of, an educational skincare information and product selection service website that clarifies and simplifies the overwhelming choice of effective, safe and affordable products encountered in the skincare aisles. Dr. Frey is a fellow of both the American Academy of Dermatology and the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery.


Barbara Glass

Barbara Glass

A 30-year marketing veteran, Barbara has been involved with senior living and healthcare for many years.  Most recently, she has supported several Dallas retirement communities with community connections and business development.  Barbara has authored the ‘Write Around the Corner’ column for 10 years, featuring book reviews, interviews and slice-of-life pieces, besides writing blogs and content for individuals and businesses.

Barbara is a Certified Aging Services Professional (CASP) through UNT and holds an Assisted Living Manager certification through the state of Texas.   She is currently serving on the Board of Directors of the Dallas Area Parkinsonism Society (DAPS) and the Community Council of Greater Dallas (CCGD). She is a member of the Care and Support Committee of the Alzheimer’s Association of Greater Dallas, and AWARE.

Originally from the east coast, Barbara has lived in Texas since 1999.  She has four children, eleven grandchildren and another on the way.



Steve Greenberg

Besides being the cartoonist for “Boomerish” for 50-and-up readers around the country, Steve Greenberg is an editorial cartoonist and artist in Southern California. He draws for weekly publications in Los Angeles and Ventura County following decades on staff at daily newspapers in SoCal, San Francisco and Seattle, winning awards for editorial cartooning nearly every year. Steve contributes to the Cartoon Movement out of The Netherlands and was the first American cartoonist invited to join. He is also an award-winning informational graphics artist and illustrator. “Boomerish” is inspired by his life and the lives of friends and people he’s observed.


Harriet GrossHarriet Gross

A proud native of Pittsburgh, PA, Harriet P. Gross began her journalism career in 1955 at a local paper. She moved to Chicago 2 years later where she worked as a full-time journalist until moving to Dallas in 1980. Here,Harriet began freelancing, doing special projects such as the text for Dallas Section, National Council of Women’s soon-to-be-published history book in addition to writing for a variety of publications.

Today, Harriet’s “In My Mind’s I” column runs weekly in the Texas Jewish Post.  She has won writing awards from the Press Club of Dallas, American Jewish Press Association, National Federation of Press Women, Illinois Woman’s Press Association and  Press Women of Texas, and has been listed in five Who’s Who publications. In her community, Harriet currently is a book reviewer, discussion leader, and program presenter for clubs, senior living facilities, and Jewish institutions including the JCC’s Senior Program.

Janet Hennard is a registered yoga teacher (RYT500) and certified yoga therapist (C-IAYT), who teaches classes in Dallas, Richardson and Garland. She also offers private yoga classes for special needs including those with osteoporosis, joint restrictions, fibromyalgia, anxiety, depression, epilepsy, and MS.


Melinda Myersmelinda myers

Nationally known gardening expert, TV/radio host, author & columnist Melinda Myers has over 35 years of horticulture experience, and has written over 20 books, including Can’t Miss Small Space Gardening and Midwest Gardener’s Handbook. She hosts the nationally-syndicated “Melinda’s Garden Moment” program, which airs on over 115 TV and radio stations. Myers also hosts The Great Courses“How to Grow Anything” DVD series. For her work inspiring and educating gardeners, community service and media presence, Myers has received recognition and numerous awards. Most recently, in 2017 she was inducted into the Hall of Fame of GWA: The Association for Garden Communicators, the highest honor that can be given to a member of the association.


Brad Sham

Brad Sham

Brad Sham serves as a play-by-play announcer for NCAA Football and NCAA Basketball broadcasts on Westwood One Sports. Also known as “the voice of the Dallas Cowboys”, Brad’s long broadcasting career includes numerous Cotton Bowl Classics, the Big 12 TV basketball network, NCAA basketball and football as well as the NFL and the 1998 Nagano Winter Olympic Games for CBS Radio/Westwood One. He wrote a book of his favorite Cowboys’ stories titled Stadium Stories: The Dallas Cowboys for Globe-Pequot press in 2003. Brad won 8 Katie Awards from the Press Club of Dallas and was named Texas Sportscaster of the Year 10 times by the National Sportswriters and Sportscasters Association. He was an inaugural inductee into the Texas Radio Hall of Fame in 2002. He serves on the board of directors of the Cotton Bowl and the board of trustees of the Texas Sports Hall of Fame.



Laura Sutherland has been in love with animals all her life. There has never been a time when she was not either rescuing, volunteering, pet sitting, fostering, adopting or being an activist on behalf of them.  After years of “normal” work, she decided to put her passion for animals first and follow her bliss. Thus, in 2016 was born WAG-N-TRAIN, a full-service pet sitting and basic obedience training business. WAG-N-TRAIN provides affordable, dependable and trusted care for East Dallas’s four-legged family members. Laura is certified in pet CPR and First Aid, A member of the Professional United Pet Sitters, LLC (PUPS) and is insured and bonded.
